field of pumpkins
HAPPY HALLOWEEN all you crazy wonderful people. We hope you have lots of fun trick o’ treating with your family & friends. Two weekends ago we got to tag along with our great friends ‘Lauren & Ryan’… you might have see them frequently on our website as they are very photogenic & are up for anything. The weather was quite hot and not a breeze in site. But we were on search for the UGLIEST, WEIRDEST, most ABNORMAL pumpkins that no one would ever want to buy. It was so fun and we even got the two of them involved in the hunt as well. Yep we found two pumpkins that we can wait to carve out tonight and toast the seeds (Eric makes a mean batch of pumpkin seeds). My pumpkin kinda resembles a skeleton’s face shape & Eric’s is very round, green, and has a spot of orange on the front… almost like a birth mark.
Watch out for those goblins and ghosts tonight!!!

stuck
This past week has been a whirlwind of a week… and how do I balance it?. Eric & I have been holding each other up & the smiles on each others faces but there’s just times when you have to relax and let go. There were moments of laughter, sadness, and craziness… and it seemed to have changed every second of every day. What are you meaning you ask? Well we had a blast at the pumpkin patch on Sunday with a group of friends filled with laughter- had an amazing family shoot that couldn’t have gone better- this helps everything that’s swirling around in my mind go away… but then our family’s lives changed- in one day.
Eric’s Grandma Daisy has been sick for quite sometime after visiting us all from Ohio last Christmas. She had a stroke and could never seem to recover fully. Eric visited her often at the hospitals and even helped feed her every Thursday night. After our shoot on Sunday we went to visit her as we got word from Eric’s dad that this might be the time to say goodbye… sadness now approached. I’m so glad we went and got to spend just one more time with her. When the phone rang on Monday we knew -she had passed. I believe she is now in a better place where she can relax and all her worries have gone away. And I believe this because of her generosity and such kindness she showed to everyone. We miss her already.
This is when craziness set in. We truly wanted to be there in Ohio with the family but weren’t able to make it. Eric then got word on Friday that him & Brad when be moving to yet another office location. All I gotta say is having your own business is quite rewarding but takes lots & lots of patience and constant change. I wouldn’t have it any other way but it is sure the hardest thing we have yet to do. Then hours later I got the weirdest phone call that the retail space I manage full time has water damage. No one wants to hear this at 12:45 in the morning. We’re still trying to recover from the wetness… not to mention the ‘Jurassic’ (this is what I call it cause I swear T-rex is next door) type noises that go on with all the construction. I swear things are dropping from the sky over there… LOL.
What helps this madness seem to disappear? Good ol’ Mr. DQ. There’s nothing more mind relaxing and easy going then a yummy vanilla cone dipped in butterscotch… oh YES. I just want to say I have gone to visit you -Mr. DQ too many times this month but you have helped me to keep things sane. Butterscotch just melting down the cone and me trying to rescue it equals laughter and simplicity. My worries fad away and I just get 10 minutes of pure delight that reminds me of childhood.
So when I feel stuck & I know we all do… I hop in the car and get mine!
Have you gotten yours today?

‘the click’ behind the scenes
Yesterday a bunch of us photogs got together for the monthly group meeting. This time it was a shoot out held in downtown Tucson with dancers in an urban setting. It seems only Tucson photographers attended this time… sad to not see some of the Phoenix faces. So you better come next time. Anyhow here’s a little behind the scenes shots I captured throughout our afternoon. This shoot was a little challenging since we didn’t know exactly what to do with the dancers and couldn’t explain the moves we wanted them to do without sounding like complete idiots. Example… ‘ok I want you to stand over here, by this pole thingy, and raise your arm & leg like this (and some of us attempted to demonstrate… bad idea).’ Totally silly… cause we didn’t know the correct dance terminology. So we resulted to explaining the move from a movie or something… lol! Ok here they are & I’ll put up the shots I actually captured of the dancers shortly.
Stuart directing the first dancer.

Joe, Kadie, and Erin photographing Max… who was up for anything! Can’t get any better than that!

Ray, Robert, Erin, Joe, and Kadie in action.

Michelle, Robert, Kadie, and Stuart.

Ok so who ever can guess who’s shoes these are you will win like a million $$$… ok maybe a shinny penny the next time I see you!

I spy with my little eye
A little cutie… ok ok it’s really a sneak peek of the Himes family. Introducing Sara, Tim, and little Nolan. We had a really great time on Sunday’s me2 portrait session. I’m super excited with all the images we captured on our adventure through downtown Tucson (where Sara suggested we go… my kind of gal.) But of course this is what happens when my clients give me total creative reign. I’m able to express my random, crazy ideas and get great ‘in the moment’ shots. Holy cow… I love it. Not to mention Nolan’s free spirit. He was such a funny little guy… I’ll get to that more when I do a larger post. But I couldn’t have asked for more & it was such a beautiful day though a little toasty. Still sizzlin’ here in Tucson. Can’t wait for scarf weather. Though I think the east coast gang is quite jealous of our weather. Ok I’m wondering off again on my thoughts. Thanks again Himes family for all the a,b,c singing and bringing the fruity snacks. And to my amazing husband for tagging along (carrying my girlie camera bag) and letting Nolan tackle you!

When I first met July & Jeremy this summer in Bisbee, Az., when they modeled for ‘The Click’ a local photography group that Kadie Pangburn & Stuart Mattingly created this year I knew they would have a really good time at their wedding. The fact that they’re both so comfortable with each other and they make others feel this way as well… is so wonderful. I was also very stoked when Kadie invited me along to second shoot their wedding and to hear July was cool with it too made me giddy. The whole week leading up to their wedding I was day-dreaming constantly about certain shots and opportunities we were gonna encounter. As I showed up everyone was so nice and laughter definitely filled the air… so refreshing. A calm bride leads to a great day!!! Their personal funny vows were heartfelt and the flow of the day was perfect. Once I left the reception I knew that I’d captured some fabuloso moments and now I’m sharing them with you all. This is one of my longest posts ever so bare with me! Seriously! There’s a lot to see… so take your time!
