people in a haystack
Yep…that’s what I call it! This past Sunday I had the opportunity to photograph the Boyle family. Instead of the urban feel they wanted something more out in nature. So I suggested a spot that I had just visited two weeks earlier with Eric’s sister’s family’s shoot. It’s a favorite spot of their’s and now mine too. Funny thing is when we did his family’s session there wasn’t a person in sight. Now of course when I take clients (now new friends) out there…a security truck rolls by & even border patrol shows up. Luckily they were just checking out things and were totally cool with us being there even though they did haul ‘you know what out’ to us. Yep they were really roughing it down the hill & fields to get to us and all by foot. But that’s a first. Never been chased down before. My heart was racing. It was exciting. Ok well back to the shoot…Eric had reminded me when we arrived to not forget to try this shot. I’m so happy I did. It’s totally fun, silly, and edgy. I could see it as a huge canvas art piece. It’s kinda my spin on the ‘pitch fork’ shot with the husband & wife out in the country…but with no pitch fork…LOL. We didn’t have one of those out there. The family was so great & they even brought along little ‘Dixie’ their long haired dachshund puppy. Which of course every time I turned around Eric had her in his arms. Such a sucker for little dogs. Can’t wait to show you the rest! I got some great ‘in the moment’ shots as well with the kiddos running through the fields. You can never go wrong with a lovely clear blue sky & lush yellow fields of grass…I mean HAY.

Introducing the Garcia’s. Sally has been a great friend of mine ever since those days at the original tux shop where we both worked together. When she asked me to photograph her bump (I mean pregnancy) I was ecstatic! I love saying ‘bump!’ Just thought I’d put that out there. She’s so beautiful & has drop dead gorgeous ‘Pantene’ hair. She’s a closet model I just know it. How could she not be! The lighting & weather were perfect to boot. I could shoot into the sun all day long. Well maybe only at sunset if I still want my eyesight…kinda need that! I’m so happy that Gregory played along with my ‘knocked up’ idea as well. What a sport. Hey my motto is ‘if it feels awkward or funny…then it’s gonna look good!’. I don’t know why but this is so true. Or acting silly or laughing superishly loud (you like that word?) gets great expressions and depth. Can’t wait to see the new baby girl…wonder if she’s going to have your hair color Sally? I hope so! *sweet as pie*

A few weeks ago I posted an image of Eric & I that the lovely Kadie Pangburn of ‘Pangburn Photography’ took of us! I have still yet to go through everything from our session and will definitely post my favorites so don’t get your panties in a bunch…I’m workin on them. But in the mean time wanted to get this little cutsy up. Kadie & Joe’s session took place on Friday and I got so much variety. 3 outfits, many props (good one’s…no typical studio stuff cause we BOTH don’t do that), an their rambunctious beautiful dog ‘Audrey’. More to come on that. Way funny stuff. But they brought along this *sweet* vintage camera that Kadie got as a gift while in school. I knew I had to take full advantage of this sucker & work my magic. I have my own collection of vintage cameras and can’t wait to showcase them once our house is done. Can you say ‘clear square floating boxes’ incasing them! Awwwww….it’s gonna be awesome. I really LOVE this shot & the interaction going on between them in the background. Click on the image to see Kadie’s work! Thanks guys for totally hammin’ it up & showing off your personalities. The camera likes you…but just a little bit…LOL!

Two Sundays ago I had the pleasure to photograph a Super Cool Way HIP Family. me2 session style. Alexa, Ryan, and little Luke were so comfortable to be around. First off…a session goes ah-Mazing when (1) a client gives me the opportunity to scope out a location I have in mind for them…meaning it’s usually something totally unique that I haven’t ventured out to yet, (2) when all they can think about is their session & go shopping or plan out their attire, (3) most important…they allow me total CREATIVE REIGN when directing & photographing their portraits. Yep then magic happens & my artwork comes alive. That’s why I really really enjoy my clients. They trust me and my visions. Love it. I knew when Alexa first contacted me that this was going to be a fabulous shoot! They live in Scottsdale, Arizona and I was able to shoot at a brand new modern ‘retail/residential loft living hot spot’ -Safari Drive. My husband Eric first brought up the idea & I am so glad he did! I *heart* being an artistic couple…awwww. The location combines everything I love within a shoot. An ah-mazing atmosphere. The lines, color, space, and textures make me wanna jump for joy. And now I’m doing exactly that after seeing these images. They scream ‘purple nickel style’. YIPPIE. Now if I could just find more locations like this in Tucson…ugh. I really like road trips though. Thanks again Bowen family. I know you’re not gonna stop staring at them!

Woo Hoo…another fabulous day here in Tucson. The weather has been perfectly photogenic. LOL. Not to mention the people as well. The look of this session is completely different from my regular urban/architectural sessions. Which is actually great. The trees, leaves, dirt, and fresh air are quite the nice change. Don’t get me wrong I could shoot urban all day believe me. I’m a city girl at heart but I also have the nature/wilderness side that creeps out of me from my childhood days out on the desert acres. I love to be outside. I could eat outside, sleep outside, and well I guess play outside. That’s why I love my sessions. Who could complain?. I’m not. Ok so back to what I was saying. Mt. Lemmon is where we traveled and ventured out to for the shoot. We all definitely consumed our fresh air & sightseeing. Ohh and rock throwing…hee hee. Don’t tell anyone. It’s great to escape to places we rarely go. Thanks again Lydick family for playing along…we had a fab. time.
