Everyone meet Ryan, Sheena and lil’ Cora!!!  We first met Ryan and Sheena (a truly adorable couple) a few years ago when they modeled/collaborated on the greenray project. BTW, during that time Sheena was knocked up. So when we bump’d (no pun intended) into each other over the summer and finally saw Cora, we knew it was time to hook up again.  They were the PERFECT family to take on an adventure around our new place. And if you know us well, you know how inspired we are with the architecture + landscape.  We’re pretty sure that Ryan (a kick ass graphic designer) approved the aesthetic too.

Here’s proof that our morning together was filled with yummy light, bitchin’ attire and a little sprinkle of love…

Ryan reached out to his jewelry-maker friend Laura of Wingflash about borrowing a chunky gold necklace and she totally delivered!  I covet her crystal & turquoise creations.

Here’s what the Trayte family had to say about their experience with us…

“We knew from the get-go that this would be a special experience… Casia even helped us pick our wardrobe! They’re the perfect team: Casia’s eye for close-ups and portraits balances well with Eric’s more wide-angle architectural vision. It resulted in a photo shoot so beautiful that we bought a 2-canvas set, a wood-backed panorama, used shots for our holiday cards and many of the photos as gifts! They were wonderful at making us feel comfortable, and such a joy working with our toddler–who is quite the curious one! We’ve received endless compliments about the unique vision and style of our photos, and the greatest thing is we’ll be reminded of the precious moments as a family at this stage for years and years to come.”

Can’t help but tear up a bit as I write this. Don’t worry though, it’s happy tears… First meeting in kindergarten, Rachel and I were inseparable. We did everything together, I mean everything! She was part of my family, the ‘second’ sister I never had!  We were always at each other’s house eating, sleeping, dancing or rollerskating (in no particular order). She was there for me and I was there for her. As the years passed we ended up going to different middle/high schools, but always stayed connected. I even photographed these two high school sweethearts in their senior prom attire….. awwwwww memories. Once college hit, it became more challenging to hang out and we began to grow apart. We even missed seeing each other graduate and get married {insert sad face with a little tear drop}. BUT… slowly over the past few years we have re-connected and I couldn’t be more thrilled. This past spring Rachel and Chris had their first little one, Harper (aka Bubbies). We soooooooooooo want a little girl. She melts our hearts every time we see her.  Most times it’s hard for me to steal her away from Eric because he simply adores her. We’ve been planning their family portraits for awhile and FINALLY the day has come to show them off.  YIPPIE!!!  We’re sort of bias but these are some of our FAVORITE photographs.

Calming ourselves before proceeding.

Rachel loves our ‘mirrored’ photographs, so Eric created this one especially for her. Yeah it rocks!

Here’s what the Murphy family had to say about their experience with us…

“Going into our shoot, Chris and I were so nervous, because we wanted our pictures to be as amazing as all of the other Purple Nickel photos we’d seen before. As we started playing with Harper, those nerves faded away, and we felt at ease in front of the camera. We were relieved to know that all Casia and Eric expected us to do was have fun! They captured small interactions between us and our daughter and made them larger than life. We will never forget the memories created during our first photo shoot with Purple Nickel Studio, and we treasure the photo art we have in our home!!!”

For months we couldn’t wait to share this project with all of you and FINALLY the time has come!!! We had the fortunate opportunity to contribute to this wonderful concept brought about by Gina + Marcus + Alex. A MODERN ARCHITECTURAL STYLIZED WEDDING! Groom, an architect and bride, an interior designer. Talk about right up our alley! The idea- everything would be clean-lined, crisp, minimalistic, graphical, fashion forward and most importantly the details would tell the story of this ARTSY couple.

A monochromatic look stylized by the charmingly-talented Alex. The Dior tweed jacket is totally a staple in any creative man’s closet, right?

We brought along some killer drafting tools + architectural books & structural models.  This made for some RAD detail shots within the loft.

Eric designed + recycled + constructed this clever boutonnière from used local bicycle gears.  We’re seriously thinking about doing an online boutique showcasing our handmade ‘one of a kind’ creations.  We’re working on the name… any suggestions?

Letterpress invitations designed by Eric and executed by LittleOwl Letterpress.  Because the overall theme was architectural it was important to design an invitation based on proportion and scale.  Eric used a grid layout along with his favorite font in the ENTIRE world.  He choose to use a blind letterpress with only minimal amounts of color in order to direct the eye to the important information.  He went with a larger size style invitation in order to portray an old school-esque movie poster.

Eric & I used a ‘rubbing’ technique used by architects to transfer the table number setting and name cards onto blocks of wood.
