Ok all ya stalkers…it’s time to guess how many pups were photographed in this flipside session!!!  ’Ready…Set…Go….!  Ok you can read the post first if you wanna.

My sis & I did this shoot just for FUN.  To see the original story/sneak peek…click HERE.  Again we both LOVE LOVE LOVE animals & can’t get enough of em’.  And when my sister Julie was fostering these pups for a few weeks until they were ready for adoption I just knew we had to squeeze in a little photo time.  I just showed up one Sunday morning and began photographing.  Really that’s it.  We used to do this all the time growing up…and I wish we did it more often.  I’d take her around our dad’s property, have her throw on a cowgirl hat and plaid shirt or whatever was lying around at the time.  We’d go to the old wood shed that was falling apart but seemed to always glisten in the golden sun as the day set. It was magical.  I guess you could say she was my very FIRST FLIPSIDE subject.  Now that I look back at those photographs I realize they totally captured the early stages of my creativity.  I would like to refer to them as the early ‘Flipside’ years…LOL.  It’s so true though.  I can’t believe I had that artistic vision way back when I was just a kid running around.  Blows my mind.  One day I just might get them scanned in.  That would be a fun post…wouldn’t it?!

Thanks again sista for letting me play and do my thang…xoxo!

Please post your guess in the comment box.  First one who’s right just might get a little somethin’ somethin’……..

Liora and I had our first conversation over the phone the very week she was arriving in Tucson, Arizona. We were BOTH awkward yet immediately hit if off.  It helps to admit that it’s sometimes difficult to talk to a complete stranger over the phone for the first time. We laughed and that broke the ice.  She was in town for the weekend to see her boyfriend…they live on complete opposite sides of the country. Crazy!!! Liora is currently in college and is IN LOVE with photography…you can check her artwork out HERE.  Eric & I met her on a Sunday morning for breakfast at the ‘oh so yummy’ Blue Willow.  We talked shop, business, life, and told each other a bunch of silly stories.  It was great.  Our meet up was quite short though as the restaurant had a packed list of people waiting…it’s quite popular (you should check it out).  As we parted and drove away I remember thinking what a pure DELIGHT she was to meet!. A breathe of fresh air really.

As we arrived home I took a look at her website.  I admit I always always always go to the ‘about me’ section first.  I wanna see the face who’s behind the camera and artwork.  But Liora’s portrait was no where to be found.  I can’t tell you how important it is to have a personal photo on your website…especially with an artist.  Words can describe you, but a photograph creates the connection. So I opened my email and sent her a quick note.  Since she was still in town for a few days I invited her to meet up with us after a me2 portrait session so we could do a mini shoot for fun. Liora cheerfully accepted.  We met at the UofA and strolled around a few of our favorite MODERN buildings…ok like one.  It’s a good one though. All I need is a slick concrete wall and I’m happy as a peach, clam, whatever.

Liora it was so wonderful to meet you and we can’t wait to further our friendship.  See you in March!

Last Sunday Eric & I took a short little trip down to Bisbee, Arizona for a very special photoshoot!  Karen secretly contacted us about doing a flipside session as a gift to Chris for their Anniversary.  We LOVE surprises!  After meeting them for the first time we knew exactly where the session should take place.  They have such an eclectic taste and Bisbee (an old mining town) seemed to fit their personalites to a T.  They were up for the mini trip and so were we.  Its been a year since I’ve photographed there and several years for Eric.  It was nice to have a change of scenery and weather. We had a blast venturing around the rustic town and getting to know Karen and Chris better.  We hope this lil sneak peek keeps Chris on her toes for what’s to come…

After the shoot Eric & I ate at this delicious Mexican Restaurant called ‘Santiago’s Mexican‘.  Their Green Corn Tamales & Carne Asada were ROCKIN.  If you’re ever visiting the area check out some of the great little spots to eat and shop…they have the cutest antique stores and cafes.

Kylee’s Mom Jeri contacted us way back in July, super stoked to have her youngest child photographed.  I think Jeri was more excited in the beginning than Kylee was! Ha. Kylee is graduating with the Class of 2010.  When we first met the two one evening over pizza we knew instantly that Kylee would just rock her flipside session.  Her personality is calm, quite and cool.  A very ‘down to earth/girl next door’ vibe who loves all sorts of music.  So when Eric & I found out she had a lime green iPod we told her she had to bring it…or else! Obviously the camera LOVES her.  I just adore all her fun outfits and accessories she brought along. Thanks again Kylee & Jeri for trusting us with all our crazy creativity…we had a blast!

Wowie…we have been mucho busy around here in purple nickel land…and we’re LOVIN’ IT!!!  Next up on the blog is a fun little side project I wanted to share that I did with my sister Julie! We haven’t created a flipside photo shoot since January and we’ve both been really really really itchin’ to do another.  Check out our last one HERE.  I think we have about 3+ additional session ideas to orchestrate…now we just have to find the time, vehicle, vintage attire and locations.  This time around we decided to include ‘Bella’ (her ewok).  Julie found her @ the Phoenix Humane Society about a year ago.  And she is the newest permanent addition to her pack. Yes I said PACK…as in dog pack (my sis has also recently decided to volunteer with the Humane Society of Southern Arizona and foster dogs who need some care before going up for adoption).  Hint…hint…you’ll see more adorable furry friends in the larger post coming soon.  Julie has always been the animal lover.  More like ‘obsessed’ with any creature that walks this planet…LOL. Seriously.  Growing up we probably spent more time playing outside and taking care of our 4 legged friends than our Barbie dolls.  Well don’t get me started on Julie’s fascination with Barbie dolls either.  I won’t embarrass her like that…you’ll just have to ask her yourself!  Can’t wait to show you the rest of the session…I’m also gonna have a lil contest to see who can guess the number of different pups!
