Meet Tania, Lashley, and adorable Sadie who’s now 1 years old! I can’t believe it…was just yesterday when I was at St. Joseph’s hospital here in Tucson seeing their little miracle born. Time is sure flying by. That’s why I’m so glad we were able to do such a creative session to capture her one year & just how laid back they all are as a family. Tania & Lashley have always been an artistic couple (Lashley rocks out on the guitar & Tania is a fabulous cute photographer…who is always eager to learn) so I’m sure Sadie is going to pick up either a sketching pad, camera, or musical instrument as she grows. Awwwwww…..their little one just melts my heart & makes me want a girl 10 times more these days. But hold on…don’t jump to conclusions…we still need to complete our home remodel first! Don’t think we don’t think about it though. We can’t wait for the day. So in the meantime I can just get my fix as being ‘auntie casia’ to my friend’s kiddos. Lots of babysitting & trips to the playground usually does it.
We’ll just see what the future has in-store for us!
One week in May Eric and I were scouting out locations & we came across several major underpasses that we’ve always wanted to explore. So that’s exactly what we did. Granted we weren’t really dressed for it. I was in flip-flops and it was scortching HOT outside. But that didn’t stop us. We dusted everything off as we headed out of the dry riverbed and said ‘Yep this is where we’re going to take them?’. And so we did.
The rest is history…

Sadie told me herself that she wants you to play the slideshow…so I think you should!

Midcentury modness!!! These are soooo much fun & unique. It’s not everyday we get to do a funky session @ a client’s midcentury home…we LOVE it!!! Way cool. There’s tons of character, vintage details, and just pure rawness all over the place. But of course there is. Alison & Matt King of Modern Phoenix: Neighborhood Network wouldn’t have it any other way. It was also nice to do their session before they started their huge landscaping project in the front yard. This way they can remember the way it used to feel & then we will have to do another session for the new feel! It’s going to be beyond awesome and clever. Jealous! Thanks again guys for being yourselves and letting us capture all your favorite activites you enjoy together. You’ll definitely inspire more families to do so.

You know you wanna press play already…

Meet the Barcena family!!! We’ve known Liz & Dennis for a few years now…Eric & Dennis used to work together @ an Architecture firm and Liz also styles our hair. She’s amazing!!! I give her complete credit to all my fabulous haircuts & color…you can find her @ Toni & Guy, ’Crossroads Festival’ location. So when Liz mentioned she finally wanted to do her me2 session I was gleaming…’Yay…finally’…I said. More like ‘it’s about time’!. We both agreed it was well overdue since we’ve discussed it for over 2yrs now. She’s only had photographs done once of little Paul when he was under 1yrs old…and it was at one of those studios that shall remain nameless in this post. Hint ‘PP’. Ugh. So I’m glad we were able to get them a much needed update to their bare walls. It’s sooooo cool to give someone funky fresh artwork like they’ve never seen before. Something they wanna display and not something they have to just cause another year has gone by. There are so many awesome series & collections from their me2 shoot we did @ the University of Arizona. That place is a gold mine for variety. I know it sounds cheesy to go down to the campus but it totally works for everyone and their unique styles!!!
Enjoy…

Introducing the King family. We were so stoked to do their me2 family session around their midcentury property in Phoenix, Arizona. How cool is that?! Alison runs the super way hip Modern Phoenix Neighborhood Network which features articles & photographic documentation of midcentury design and preservation. So it was kind of a given that we were gonna photograph around the home. They have done their best to keep the true essence of that time period present. Can’t wait for you to see the funky retro details. So to hold ya over here’s a teaser of how RAD their site is. Only midcentury homes can get away with having a vintage Shasta trailor & flamingo’s in their yard that don’t get stolen. Thanks again guys for a fabulous early morning ‘beat the heat’ shoot & the yummy orange cranberry scones and peanut butter brownies.

Oh little Sadie…how I ADORE her so!!! I think she secretly wants me to be her 2nd mommy…LOL. Ok Auntie Elna has first dibs…but then ME. I was so happy that Tania & Lashley wanted to do another shoot with Purple Nickel…probably their 5th session?. I’ve know Tania for quite some time now. We first met at PP…back in the day. That’s code for ‘The Picture People!’. Yep we both did it. Guilty. I like to say it was my college job. And to think Tania kept applying and coming in begging Erin until she finally turned 16 and could get the job. So cute & very motivated. She’s gonna be something I tell ya…she has the eye for photography and is constantly getting busier. Now her dang website just needs to be up and running. I also had the great pleasure back in 2006 to photograph their wedding & reception with my fellow friend & photographer Erin Durband. Well let me tell you it’s been so amazing hanging out with T & L and especially now with their little girl who just melts my heart. Everytime I see Sadie I fall more in love with her & so does everyone else. Except for when she’s teething. I’ve never heard someone so tiny yell & shout so loudly. Maybe she’s testing her vocals…oh great can’t wait til we can’t shut her up. Just joking. Sort of. She’s probably gonna say the sillest things too. Well she’s already a natural in front of the camera (her mommy has trained her well) and you’ll see shortly all her amazing faces. I just had to post this one first…I love the leading lines, the colored Converse, and Sadie’s simply gesture of ‘pick me up mom!’. Can’t wait to show you their slideshow.
