kolb . me2 + slideshow . sweetness
Yay…another SLIDESHOW! Meet the Kolb family. They were in Tucson for the week visiting family (Sara & Tim Himes who you might remember from when we photographed their me2 session back in October along with little cutie Nolan) and decided to book a session with us crazy kids @ Purple Nickel. Coming all the way from Nebraska…I’m sure the warm weather was a nice change. So awesome and such a sweet family to hang out with. All 5 of them are so laid back and easy going. It was an absolute pleasure to photograph the gang and get em’ updated with some HIP artwork. I’m sure they haven’t had anything like this before & so thrilled we got to create it…especially with a Tucson atmosphere. We hope to one day visit their surroundings!

Last Friday it was still ‘up in the air’ as to if we were gonna be able to do the Barcena’s me2 session…it rained for 2 days straight. But we decided to attempt it and I’m super excited with what Eric & I captured. I told him @ lunch that I would be sooooo happy to find a big puddle of water to do reflections with since these are extremly rare here in the desert…though ‘Monsoon’ season is fast approaching and we’ll be getting afternoon storms every day. So once I spotted this lovely find I knew it would be one of my favorites from the day. Everything about it makes me smile…the blue sky (which we didn’t have very long), the tree branches, Liz’s tattoo & cute ballet flats…awwwwwww…oh and it wouldn’t be a purple nickel shot with out concrete in it. Perfect! Can’t wait to show you more especially with their little son Paul…who I like to call ‘little monkey!’. Why you ask? Oh cause he’s all over the place but what 4 year old boy isn’t. He gave us soooo many expressions that it’s gonna be a hard edit. Enjoy…

Mom is the superhero of this family!!! While dad is away for around 8 months out of the year she’s holding down the fort & running the kids all around town like a crazy lady. I don’t know how she does it but she sure is one tough cookie! And quite funny. These two silly boys were an absolute JOY to be around. Tyson is 6 years old and has some crazy ‘knock knock jokes’…I think he could tell them all afternoon if we’d let him. And lil’ brother Alex is 16 months old. He’s a miracle baby and had Ebsteins Anomaly, which is a really really rare heart condition. He sure is a trooper and very strong like his mom Samantha. He sure does have one cute smile & we have grandma to thank for getting so many smirks & giggles…she was sooooo awesome. Oh and Eric totally WOW’d me on this shoot. He caught the most creative unexpected shots…all while I was directing something else or we were all just walking. He’s getting so good and know’s exactly what I’m looking for.
Thanks again Montoyo family! Can’t wait to photograph you & the hubs when he gets back!!!
p.s. I love all the little intimate moments, the vintage orange VW van, and the fact that this was Alex’s first time laying on the grass *SWEET*.

These are just some of our favorites. There are way way way too many to post up so we decided to dedicate a whole slideshow. Yeah BABY! We LOVE hanging out with this family. They made us feel so welcome and can’t wait to photograph them for many more years to come.

So excited about this past Friday’s session…it went so well. I was worried that the weather was going to be too hot and way too sunny but it was a perfectly overcasted day (which is rare here in Tucson, Az). It always gets way to warm here and way too fast it seems. But this afternoon couldn’t have gone any better especially with the slight breeze…ahhhh. I can’t tell you how excited I am about this image. Everything about it just knocks my socks off! Mom had killer shoes on, big brother Tyson was so ‘on-board’ with the whole shoot (you’ll see this later), and little Alex just melted our hearts. He was such a trooper. And we’re so thankful that Grandma came along too just to help out with smiles and all the trinkets. No one could ever in a million trillion gazillion years guess how she got Alex to smile so much…well it involves a hula hoop and just spinning it around! Yep. Back and forth on the concrete. Ha. So simple. It’s astonishing. We dodged the hoop several times and even at one point were all busting up laughing at how close Eric came to being the direct target. She has a wicked arm…that Grandma…at least the hoops are plastic. Ok…so I hope this holds mom over until the rest of the fabulous images are complete. They’re gonna be really really really fun!
