f mod cards
We LOVE to design cards…it’s one of our favorite things!!! Our f mod cards certainly stand out among others. The 5×5 square format and layout fits our style of photography perfectly. Unique to every client…every time. We’re always trying to create simple yet powerful elements. And I think these are definitely modern & hip. Don’t you? Cards don’t always have to be sent out around the traditional holidays either…think outside of the box…cause we do
We’ve done New Year’s to a New Home and to these ultra fabulous Thank You’s that Lauren & Ryan are sending out to family and friends who attended their Baby Shower!!! Talk about a fun & creative twist to using their flipside maternity session images in a completely different way. And sharing them with everyone is an extra bonus. LOVE IT!!! Our ideas for f mod cards are endless…
Printed by the lovely WHCC on a matte finish with a center crease impression…making them super easy to fold down the middle. We really like using the matte finish as opposed to glossy for a few reasons: matte tends to have a graphic design feel (think urban outfitters & anthro catalogs) and of course we love that. Also less fingerprints show up and the clean card stock texture sets a modern tone. And we’re all about MODERN baby!!!
Here they are…

Down below are the actual final photoshop images. I had to put a drop shadow behind them just so they would ‘pop’ & have dimension on the blog. Also so you could see the actual square size and white space created on the layout.

just some stuff
Hope everyone had a great 4th!!! There’s so many ways to celebrate that day. Laying on the beach, poolside, BBQ’n, waterballoon fights, and family time. But we just kept things mellow this year. Eric & I just got a pizza and watched a movie @ home. Yep…that’s it. Not too exciting but was nice to just chill and escape the heat. Though we we’re frequently reminded every sec that it was the 4th due to our lovely neighbors across the way. They must have bought out the whole fireworks shop!!! Literally. Uhhh…we don’t mind fireworks at all but when they sound like they’re crashing onto our house and through the windows it becomes a little scary. Our doggies weren’t to thrilled either. Anyone know of doggie ‘ear plugs’? Well if not it could be a gold mine to start developing those. Though our dogs would just scratch them out. So maybe just some kind of doggie head-sets or soft ’sound blocking’ hats or head wraps? We also heard the neighbors shouting out when cars were coming down the road. At least they were trying to be safe :/ Oh I forgot to mention they not only shot these off from their backyard but also in the road which is located right next to a park and a wash filled with nicely dried dead weeds. So I’m thankful that nothing caught on fire
That’s our story from the weekend! How was yours?
So what would be a post without some images…here’s a few snapshots from a few fun dinners and outtings with family & friends from the last few weeks.
@Joe’s Crabshack for Dan’s Birthday (Eric’s Dad). I’ve never been there before for a birthday dinner…the staff goes crazy with dancin’ and shoutin’ around the tables.

Katie (our Niece)…she’s soooo cute, and then the Birthday boy and Maggie (Eric’s Mom). Can’t you tell he’s thrilled that it’s his Birthday? Ha. It even says it on his bib…I just noticed that.

I’m ready for some Snowcrab…or just like playing with the yellow crab forks?. Gosh I’m a dork & def. make some ridiculous faces!!! Cheeseball.

Bowling night…exaggerated but totally fun! My crazy sis Julie, Erin, and Bernie!

details
We surely can’t get enough of random details when shooting our sessions. Eric . YES . Eric grabbed these gems while we photographed the Barcena Family a few weeks back! Now I truely know what he’s up to everytime he disappears around a site. Knowing the outcome will look like this he can go where-ever when-ever. My little grasshopper has made me so proud!!! See what happens when you give an artist totally freedom. Now we just need to get some sort of walkie talkie/ear piece system (that sounds so 1980’s) going so I can dispatch him over when I need help with a family shot. Ah-mazing & inspiring!!!

Midcentury modness!!! These are soooo much fun & unique. It’s not everyday we get to do a funky session @ a client’s midcentury home…we LOVE it!!! Way cool. There’s tons of character, vintage details, and just pure rawness all over the place. But of course there is. Alison & Matt King of Modern Phoenix: Neighborhood Network wouldn’t have it any other way. It was also nice to do their session before they started their huge landscaping project in the front yard. This way they can remember the way it used to feel & then we will have to do another session for the new feel! It’s going to be beyond awesome and clever. Jealous! Thanks again guys for being yourselves and letting us capture all your favorite activites you enjoy together. You’ll definitely inspire more families to do so.

You know you wanna press play already…
Just hanging out…
Last week while Eric & I were visting Kansas City, Missouri we had lunch with Kelley of Kelley Photo (who I first met @ the ‘Anit-Workshop, Seattle). We all connected up around the River Market area…which is way cool! Fresh market goods, gelato, and ethnic food (which I attempted but found too spicy for my palette…Eric LOVED it of course!). Heather Cole & Josh Solar also came. It was so nice to finally meet him and put a face to all the ‘twitterin’ we’ve been doing back & forth. Thanks for coming Josh! Kelley’s friend Ashley who works in the studio also came…so we had quite the group of photogs. Great conversation & many laughs about all sorts of random stuff occured. Wish we could all do that on a monthly basis. So to show off our silliness here’s some snapshots we arranged in the matter of seconds while we checked out Kelley & Josh’s killer studio. Jealous!
Enjoy…
Eric, Me, Heather, Kelley, and Ashley
