Meet the Barcena family!!!  We’ve known Liz & Dennis for a few years now…Eric & Dennis used to work together @ an Architecture firm and Liz also styles our hair.  She’s amazing!!!  I give her complete credit to all my fabulous haircuts & color…you can find her @ Toni & Guy, ’Crossroads Festival’ location. So when Liz mentioned she finally wanted to do her me2 session I was gleaming…’Yay…finally’…I said.  More like ‘it’s about time’!.  We both agreed it was well overdue since we’ve discussed it for over 2yrs now.  She’s only had photographs done once of little Paul when he was under 1yrs old…and it was at one of those studios that shall remain nameless in this post.  Hint ‘PP’.  Ugh. So I’m glad we were able to get them a much needed update to their bare walls.  It’s sooooo cool to give someone funky fresh artwork like they’ve never seen before. Something they wanna display and not something they have to just cause another year has gone by.  There are so many awesome series & collections from their me2 shoot we did @ the University of Arizona.  That place is a gold mine for variety.  I know it sounds cheesy to go down to the campus but it totally works for everyone and their unique styles!!!

Enjoy…

So as some of you might know Eric & I attended Heather Cole’s ‘PLAYshop’ this past Monday in Kansas City, Missouri!!!  So proud of Heather for hosting her very first shop…YOU GO GIRL.  We had a great time meeting everyone and learning so much from each other.  It’s amazing how the most simple steps to a process can be so eye opening…I had a lot of ‘duh’ moments!  Hopefully I wasn’t alone on that.  Our trip was so casual & smooth the whole time…except for getting lost around downtown areas and all the ‘one-way’ streets, lack of street signage and their itty bitty stop lights.  Oh and all the scary storm warnings and getting woken up by the loudest thunder & brightest lightning EVER @ 3am the first morning. But yeah…otherwise it was fabulous!!!  Makes me feel greatful for Tucson’s weather now and how we really don’t have much to complain about except for the heat.

So what would a post be without some yummy photographs from the yummy models Claire & Paul.  Who were so friendly & laid back and totally knew how to work the camera…though Claire is also a photographer in the Kansas City area so how could she not?!

I’ll also be posting some super silly random pics I created with my tiny pocket camera when hanging out @ Kelley Photo’s Studio the following day!!! Stay tuned.

I’ve been meaning to get this up and show you all what an AWESOME job Eric did on designing Marcy & Tony’s flipside mod book.  I can always envision the layouts but never seem to technically execute them correctly…that’s why I love my hubby.  I do help with choosing color selections & wording though…LOL.  These are our FAVORITE books that we offer from the luxurious Couture I Book.  They’re seriously like no other & totally represent our style to a T.  Modern, hip, organic, and freakin sweet is what they are. We LOVE LOVE LOVE the ‘earth’ collection…especially the Alaska.  It has a see through notch in the cover & rounded corners.  We specifically custom design these to reflect the funky fun personality & tone of the session.  Oh and these are literally green books printed on 100% post-consumer recycled acid-free archival paper.  The entire process is powered by green-e certified windpower…COOL!  Also to boot…a proceed of the book goes towards a charity through their ‘Build a Better World’ program.  We love making a difference & giving back to communities when ever possible.

  1. Michelle Moore I saw you linked from Heather Cole's workshop. What a RAD one-of-a kind vibe you guys have! Totally LOVE it!!! :) Awesome work! Keep rockin'!!!

  2. amy what a cool video. it's fun to see how they are made.

  3. Jess Kamm The book looks awesome!!! Great job!

So today Eric & I are heading out to a Phoenix baseball game…the Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Houston Astros!!!  So excited.  Not only have we not been to enough baseball games but we got these tickets for free…even better!  This is Eric’s absolute favorite sport.  He has missed out on it so much lately…we only got to go to one spring training game this past season.  It’s gonna be a blast.  Especially since it’s in the covered statium with a retractable roof.

Then we’re flying out literly right after (I mean like we might have to leave the game a tad bit early) to Kansas City, Missouri to hook up with Heather Cole.  She’s an ah-mazily fab wedding/portrait photographer who I had the pleasure of meeting back in May 2006 @ the ‘Anti-Workshop’ in Seattle. She’s such a sweetie and was kind enough to give me a few pointers as I was just starting the biz.  Well she’s putting on her first official one day workshop & is also hosting another come August.  Click on the pic to see the info. Can’t wait to tell you all about it along with some fabulous new images.  Oh and I get to spend 3 whole entire days away from smolderin’ hot Tucson with my hunky husband…which is much needed after the busy spring season we had.  Woo hoo!!!

  1. Michelle Rasmussen Woo Hoo! So happy you and Eric get to go together! YaY! Have fun and learn lots! :)

Introducing the King family.  We were so stoked to do their me2 family session around their midcentury property in Phoenix, Arizona.  How cool is that?! Alison runs the super way hip Modern Phoenix Neighborhood Network which features articles & photographic documentation of midcentury design and preservation.  So it was kind of a given that we were gonna photograph around the home.  They have done their best to keep the true essence of that time period present.  Can’t wait for you to see the funky retro details.  So to hold ya over here’s a teaser of how RAD their site is. Only midcentury homes can get away with having a vintage Shasta trailor & flamingo’s in their yard that don’t get stolen.  Thanks again guys for a fabulous early morning ‘beat the heat’ shoot & the yummy orange cranberry scones and peanut butter brownies.
